Oncology Physician Resource (OPR) has developed a Michigan Oncology Clinical Treatment Pathways Program to be sponsored by BCBSM as a professional Collaborative Quality Initiative (CQI) through its Physician Group Incentive Program (PGIP). The intent of the Pathways Program is to establish treatment pathways, decrease variability of care delivery and improve quality. The guidelines contained within the pathways will help define optimal quality care and treatment with the least toxicity and also be more cost effective for the patient, provider, and payer.
The primary objective of the Pathways Program is to demonstrate that treatment pathways can be universally incorporated into clinical oncology practices. OPR will serve as the Coordinating Center and work alongside the Michigan oncology community. The Coordinating Center, with the assistance of its vendor, P4 Healthcare, will provide tools, expertise, educational meetings and hands-on training for developing, implementing and on-going monitoring relating to the Pathways Program.
